Water stirs our grief: a choir of tears (2025-)

The sound installation with live performance proposes a sonic and poetic storytelling meditation on the ecoeroticism of water from the perspective of the inhabitants of this garden of revolt speaking to the listener.

through poetry, vocalizing instructions and body movement invitations urging them to remember and embody other modes of feeling and sensing that resist coloniality

A site specific sound installation with a live performance happening to be presented in a harbor, in Malmö based on the first chapter of my MA thesis - “WATER STIRS OUR GRIEF: A CHOIR OF TEARS”. The chapter becomes a sonic meditation on water as a primordial element of a (meta)physical garden of revolt based in Copenhagen where an array of voices speak and scheme this garden into existence surrounding different aspects of life around it.

The chapter unfolds three main acts:

1. Water as a primordial ecoerotic organism that exists in an aquatic poisonous pond (set in Copenhagen, Nørrebro) part of a metaphysical garden of revolt

2. a (water) journey on the train between Copenhagen - Malmö where voices that speak from this garden and reflect on the water that lays under the öresund bridge as a sensuous body that evokes grieving modes due to border violence between both Scandinavian countries.

3. A (water) journey into the strait of Gibraltar in the Atlantic ocean where orcas plot different vengeful throwings of boats ignited by the presence of millions of ghosts who lost their lives during the atlantic slave trade and modern migrating routes crossing the African and European continents

Water as an essential element that nourishes, and binds seed to soil into growth interconnecting species into a relational bond. Similarly, for humans, water not only nourishes yet also binds us with other species, from ingesting, injecting or moisturizing plant-based goods or foods, to cleansing and purifying bodies both internally and externally. From an affective perspective, I am establishing that water as an element is also connected to the emotive in the biopolitical sphere, evoking water as an element that stirs active grieving. This grieving has the potential for the political and collective action against violence, injustice, and oppression.
